At the Black Canal Tattoo Company, we are not only piercers but also moms and we love to create a calm, fun and positive first piercing experience, especially for our younger clients!

We pierce earlobes for anyone over the age of 4, who can express to us that this is what they want to do and can understand our process. We will show you different jewelry end options to suit your budget and their personal style.

We always start with labret post style jewelry for children's lobe piercings. This has a flat disc on the back for comfort and we select the post length based on their specific anatomy. We choose this style of jewelry as it is less likely to be moved and irritated like ring style jewelry. All of the jewelry we pierce with is ASTM certified F-136 implant grade titanium and we carry both internally threaded and threadless options, starting at $20 per stud.

We will review aftercare practices with you and your child so everyone knows how to take care of the new piercings. Please note; we do not recommend swimming for at least 6-8 weeks after having your ears pierced due to the amount of bacteria and potential for infection in bodies of water. After the piercings you will also be sent home with an aftercare instruction sheet.

Our piercers will then explain the equipment and will show you everything in it's original packaging before setting up the tray.

We are happy to work at whichever pace is best for our clients and clients are welcome to take breaks or pauses if needed. Once the equipment is set up, the real fun begins with cleaning the site, marking the placement, the actual piercing and our favourite part; the final reveal!

After the piercings, we are available for ongoing support if needed.
